Love the rain – such a Cliché!

Even if they do not admit it, everyone is excited about the rain to some extent. After going through that hot, dry, death-like summer, the first heavy rains feel like someone just lifted you from underneath a heavy rock and you can breathe again. It is such a cliché, I agree. But sometimes living the ordinary, clichéd life, having those clichéd thoughts also brings peace to your mind. It is true, try it! The rainy evening chai- biscuit, the pakodas, slow romantic film songs… everything!

What is it about the rains that make us fall in love with such clichés? The bike rides, the long drives, sharing one umbrella, believe me, all this still exists. The crowd that gathers around every waterfall during this time, is the evidence. Earlier it was letters and photos that were the proof; now Instagram has taken over, among others. The reels, stories, boomerangs, and snaps may have taken over the camera film, but what is captured is Rain and its clichés; the emotion in the pictures has not changed even though the technology capturing it has.

Why do we dislike Clichés? The stigma around them is unfair and I believe sometimes these Clichés are comforting because if you don’t have anything else, you at least have them. Your romance, your writing, your relationships, and even your work, everything needs a bit of Cliché.

Use them to bring something new in life, use them to not feel empty. Make life a mix of new and old and it cannot get stale ever.
